June is but a few weeks away, and we all know what that means— summer is quickly approaching. Soon enough, our days will be filled with fun by the pool, road trips, island getaways, and all the warm weather works.

With that being said, it also means that it’s time to crank up that air conditioning to keep ourselves and our homes cool. This unfortunately also means that we’ll be putting a strain on the bank via a higher energy bill.

The following are 2 tips to help you with beating the heat and reducing your energy bill:

1. Make sure your air conditioner is working efficiently.

One of the most important things you can do come summertime is to make sure that your AC is in tip-top condition. An old or blocked-up air conditioner can potentially use up to 5 to 15 percent more energy than one that’s in working condition. This means that your system is working much harder to keep your house cool, which is ultimately increasing your energy bill.

2. Go outside!

Yes, yes— you’re trying to stay cool. We know. However, isn’t summertime supposed to be about soaking up all that vitamin D at the beach or at a waterpark?
Give your home’s energy bill a break by socializing with friends and family in the great outdoors this summer— it’ll be great for your wallet, mood, and your tan.
